Dr.Jifeng Liu is a Postdoctoral Associate with the Microphtonics Center at MIT. His main research field has been GeSi-based active optoelectronic devices for electronic and photonic integration on silicon, including GeSi photonic modulators, light emitters, and photodetectors integrated with high index contrast waveguides. Currently he is also doing research on photovoltaic (PV) and thermophotovotaic (TPV) devices for clean energy applications, including Ge/Si TPV cells and photonic structures for light trapping and efficiency enhancement in thin film solar cells.
Prior to joining MIT in 2001, he was doing research in Tsinghua University during his M.S. program on low resistivity silicide materials for high quality ohmic contacts in CMOS devices, and synthesis of SiC thin films on Si by metal vapor vacuum arc (MEVVA) ion source implantation.
Dr.Liu has authored or co-authored over 50 scientific papers and 2 book chapters since 2000. He has also been awarded 4 U.S. patents. In 2004, he was awarded a Materials Research Society (MRS) Graduate Student Gold Award at the Fall Meeting.
